Prof. Emily P. Balkus

Professor of Chemistry at CCB, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, and an Institute Member of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.

Having won numerous prestigious awards, including the 2019 Blavatnik Award for Young Scientists in Chemistry and the 2020 Alan T. Waterman Award, Emily is an expert in microbial metabolism and the human gut microbiome and is aiming to discover new microbial enzymes and metabolites.

Emily also won the International grant recognized by the International Scientific Committee, for her project aimed at improving Parkinson's disease treatment by targeting gut microbial drug metabolism,
