Sarah Lebeer
Full professor, Department of Bioscience Engineering, Faculty of Science, University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Prof. Sarah Lebeer investigates the human microbiota at different body sites, with a particular interest in the skin, the female reproductive tract and the oronasopharyngeal cavity. With her team, she focuses on identifying the beneficial microbiota members and how they can be applied to prevent and treat infections and chronic inflammatory disorders.

Irina Spacova, PhD
Senior postdoctoral researcher, Department of Bioscience Engineering, Faculty of Science, University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Dr. Irina Spacova investigates the functional role of microbial communities at the interface between the human body and the environment, focusing on the upper respiratory tract. Her current experimental research aims to unravel how resident bacteria in the airways directly influence the course of respiratory viral infections.
